Purpose
In order to fulfill its mandate under the Public Libraries Act s20(a), "A board shall seek to provide, in co-operation with other boards, a comprehensive and efficient public library service that reflects the community's unique needs", the FFPL Board shall make certain that an effective planning process is in place for the FFPLTC.
CEO Performance Appraisal

Purpose
The performance appraisal of the CEO shall be conducted on an annual basis. This process facilitates bilateral communication between the FFPL Board and the CEO, and ensures that the FFPL Board’s priorities are being achieved. It ensures continued development of the CEO to more effectively perform their role. It is tied to strategic planning, job description, annual work plans and FFPL Board objectives.

Purpose
In accordance with the Public Libraries Act s. 3(3), the FFPLTC is under the management and control of the FFPL Board. The FFPL Board has the sole authority and responsibility for establishing policy. This policy directs the FFPL Board to develop and monitor policies.

Statement
In accordance with the Public Libraries Act s. 15(2), the FFPL Board appoints a CEO who shall have general supervision over, and direction of, the operations of the FFPLTC and its staff.
Committees of the Board

Purpose
The FFPL Board may set up ad hoc committees to further the work of the FFPL Board. This policy ensures that the FFPL Board establishes terms of reference and specific duties for each of these committees, as the need arises.

The orientation of new members is necessary in order for there to be a common and shared understanding of the authority and role of the FFPL Board. This policy sets out the requirements for FFPL Board orientation.
